Permit Pulse is your go-to resource for navigating the permit process for backpacking and climbing adventures in the U.S. National Parks. Instead of scouring multiple websites and tracking permit dates manually, Permit Pulse consolidates all the key information you need—permit lottery openings, sales windows, fees, and direct links to Recreation.gov—so you can focus on planning your next trip.
Whether you're a seasoned backpacker chasing permits for high-demand trails like The Enchantments, a climber eyeing Mt. Rainier, or a first-timer looking to navigate the confusing world of backcountry permits, Permit Pulse is designed for you. If you've ever missed out on a permit because you didn’t know when they went on sale, this site was built with you in mind.
Right now, Permit Pulse focuses on National Parks with permits managed through Recreation.gov, but there’s more to come. Future updates will introduce state park permits, expanding the site’s reach to popular backcountry destinations that require separate applications. Eventually, users will be able to toggle between federal and state permit systems, making it even easier to plan multi-park adventures in one place. Stay tuned for updates, and happy adventuring!
I’m Sean J. Carrillo, the creator of this app. I created Permit Pulse because I know the struggle of navigating the complex world of backcountry permits. Frustrated by missed permit windows and scattered information, this project was built to make it easier for backpackers, climbers, and adventurers to secure their spots in some of the country’s most beautiful parks.
